SCIENCE
The Hands-On Science and Technology program
develops students’ scientific literacy through active inquiry, problem
solving, and decision making. With each activity in the program, students are
encouraged to explore, investigate, and ask questions as a means of heightening
their own curiosity about the world around them. Students solve problems through
firsthand experiences and by observing and examining objects within their
environment. In order for young students to develop scientific literacy,
concrete experience is of utmost importance—in fact, it is essential.
Hands-On Science and Technology is co-written
by eight science teachers who share their classroom-tested ideas in
user-friendly, activity-based lesson plans. With Hands-On Science and
Technology, you can teach science effectively even if you don’t have a science
background.
